New Developments in Windows 11: Insider Preview Build 26120.4161
Microsoft has unveiled a fresh Insider Preview build, 26120.4161 KB5058515, specifically tailored for the Beta Channel. This latest update brings a range of exciting features and enhancements aimed at improving user experience.
Introducing Copilot in Word
A significant highlight of this build is the introduction of the “Draft with Copilot in Word”feature. This innovative option allows Copilot to assist you in brainstorming and crafting drafts quickly. Although this feature will start to roll out gradually over the coming weeks, it’s important to note that it requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription to access.

Enhanced Widgets Experience
The new build also optimizes the Widgets feature, introducing multiple dashboards. While this may not change the minds of those who are indifferent to widgets, loyal users are likely to appreciate the expanded functionality that these additional boards provide.

Lock Screen Customization Options
Users will now enjoy enhanced control over their lock screen, with new options for widget placement. These improvements provide a more tailored user experience, allowing for personalized organization of essential information.

New Migration App and UI Improvements
The recently discussed migration app is also included in this build. For further details, please refer to our previous article. Additionally, the activation dialog for the Windows 11 product key has received updates, adopting the visual style of Windows 11 to enhance UI consistency.
Updated “Open With”Dialog
This build tests a new “Open with”dialog that intelligently recommends Microsoft Store applications for file opening tasks, streamlining the user experience.

General Improvements and Known Issues
In addition to the standout features, Microsoft has implemented various subtle enhancements addressing issues like those related to Account Manager sign-in and Task Manager CPU readings. However, users should be aware of the following known issues:
General Issues
- Post-PC reset under Settings > System > Recovery may incorrectly display the build version as 26100 instead of 26120. This will not hinder access to future updates that will resolve this discrepancy.
- The reset option under Settings > System > Recovery is non-functional in this build.
- NEW: Applications relying on virtualization may fail to run if Virtualization Based Security is enabled unless the “Windows Hypervisor Platform” optional component is installed.
Xbox Controllers
- Some users are reporting issues with Xbox Controllers connected via Bluetooth causing system crashes. To remedy this, access Device Manager, locate the driver named “oemXXX.inf (XboxGameControllerDriver.inf)”, right-click, and select “Uninstall”.
Click to Do (Preview)
Issues to be resolved in future updates include:
- AMD or Intel™-powered Copilot+ PCs may experience delays during the first attempt at intelligent text actions in Click to Do following an update.
Improved Windows Search
- REMINDER: Ensure your Copilot+ PC is plugged in during the initial indexing for optimal performance. Check indexing status under Settings > Privacy & Security > Searching Windows.
Taskbar & System Tray
- NEW: Some users may notice taskbar icons appearing smaller than expected, despite settings configured to prevent this.
File Explorer
Known issues related to AI actions in File Explorer:
- The Narrator scan mode might not function properly during the Summarize AI action for Microsoft 365 files when accessing bulleted lists. Navigate using Caps + Right key as a workaround.
- If your display language is set to a right-to-left language, the action result canvas for AI actions will display incorrectly.
Widgets
- Current support for pinning in the new widgets board is still a work in progress, reverting to the previous experience for now.
