Microsoft’s Latest Developer Updates: Dev Home 0.19 and Windows Terminal Enhancements
After a significant announcement at Ignite 2024, Microsoft has rolled out a series of updates tailored for developers, including the latest version of Dev Home and significant enhancements to Windows Terminal. The Stable Channel introduces Windows Terminal version 1.21.3231.0, which includes various service improvements and bug fixes. Meanwhile, the Preview Channel welcomes version 1.22.3232.0, featuring enhancements such as improved glyph rendering on displays set to 100% scaling.
What’s New in Windows Terminal 1.21.3231.0
Key Changes:
- The drag-and-drop path translator has been modified to better detect new distribution profiles when utilizing WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux).
- Terminals will no longer create WSL profiles when the system can already identify them.
Bug Fixes:
- Auto-detected profiles that momentarily vanish will now be retained in Terminal.
- The Czech translation of “Open in Terminal”has been revised for clarity.
Accessibility Improvements:
- High Contrast Mode is now fully functional in both the Command Palette and Settings User Interface.
Introducing Windows Terminal 1.22.3232.0
Enhancements Include:
- The built-in Box Drawing glyphs exhibit improved appearances on 100%-scale displays, with better-designed options for rounded corners.
- Similar to version 1.21, this update enhances the drag-and-drop path translator for WSL distribution profiles.
- Profiles for WSL are no longer generated if they can be autonomously detected.
Bug Fixes:
- A fix has been implemented to ensure auto-detected profiles remain even if they temporarily disappear.
- The Czech language support for “Open in Terminal”is now functioning correctly once again.
Additional Accessibility Features:
- Users can now right-click tabs to access options such as “move tab left”, “move tab right”, and “move to new window”.
