Microsoft is rolling out an exciting new feature in Microsoft Teams that enables users to select a skin tone for emojis and reactions. The chosen skin tone will be reflected throughout the Teams environment, including in meetings, chats, and channels. As illustrated in the screenshot below, users have the option to pick from six distinct skin tones. This setting will be consistent across the various Teams clients available on Windows, Mac, web, Android, and iOS, ensuring a cohesive user experience.
This feature empowers users to personalize the skin tone of their emojis and reactions, allowing for a more accurate representation of their identity and fostering authentic self-expression during virtual meetings and discussions.
To access the new skin tone features, follow these steps:
- Navigate to Settings and more (…) > Settings > Appearance and accessibility. Then, locate the skin tone option in the newly introduced “Choose a skin tone”section.
- Alternatively, you can directly adjust the skin tone within the emoji and reaction menus. Simply hover over a chat message or click the Emoji, GIFs, and Stickers button in the message field. Next, hit the Customize button adjacent to the search box, and select your desired skin tone.
Additionally, Microsoft allows users to modify the skin tone for individual emojis or reactions without altering the default setting. Users can easily right-click an emoji or reaction on Windows, Mac, and the web or long-press on Android and iOS devices.
This new feature for skin tone settings is currently accessible to all Teams Public Preview or Microsoft 365 Targeted release users utilizing the latest Teams client across Windows, macOS, web, Android, and iOS platforms. IT administrators can activate the Teams client for Public Preview by selecting the Show preview features option within their Teams update policy.
By providing enhanced customization options for emoji appearances, Teams users can engage in more genuine communication and better represent themselves in their interactions within Teams.
