Microsoft Teams (free) adds automatic welcome messages for Windows 11 and more
Despite primarily focusing on enhancing its Teams service for paid commercial users, Microsoft also regularly updates its Microsoft Teams (free) brand with a few new features every month for personal users. In March 2024, the company announced the latest additions to the free edition.
According to a recent blog post by Microsoft, users of the free edition of Teams on Windows 11 can now generate a Community Bot. This feature sends an automatic welcome message to users when they join a community group on Teams (free). Microsoft explained:
Community Bot can be used to share important details, prompt new members to introduce themselves, acquaint new members to the community or whatever you would like to say!
To include the bot message, community group leaders must first choose the desired community from the list. Then, they can click on the More options (…) menu beside the community name and select the Community Bot option. They can write the welcome message, preview it, and finally save it for new community members.
In the last month, Microsoft Teams (free) introduced two additional features for iOS and Android users. The first is a noise suppression feature for meetings, available in the apps. You can opt for the Auto setting, which will automatically adjust the noise suppression levels, or manually change it from Low to High. Note that the High option will eliminate all noise except your own voice.
In addition, Microsoft Teams (free) mobile app users now have the ability to include a website link in community groups. This link will be accessible to all members of the community, as well as anyone who receives an invitation to join the group.
