This week, Microsoft announced a series of updates for users of the free Teams for Personal service, which was previously referred to as Microsoft Teams (free).
According to a recent blog update, the company is introducing a refreshed design for the desktop and web versions of Teams for Personal. Among the changes are more prominent avatars aimed at enhancing user engagement. The updated interface will also feature improved reactions for a more interactive experience.
Microsoft highlights that the revamped design includes new colors and materials across the web and desktop platforms. Additionally, there have been adjustments to spacing between various elements, creating what the company describes as “a simpler and more welcoming environment”for users of the app.
Another significant addition for Teams for Personal users this month is the introduction of Community Owner Badges on the desktop version, a feature that was exclusively available on mobile devices until now. Microsoft states:
These badges will appear on posts and replies from community owners, making them easily identifiable across all community channels. Users can click on the badge to access the full members list.
To recap, back in August, Microsoft rolled out numerous features for Teams for Personal users, including the ability to pin and unpin community conversations. They also introduced a Files tab, allowing users to view all shared files within a community.
Additionally, in August, a functionality was added that lets one user hand over control of their PC to another user during meetings, fostering better collaboration among trusted contacts. Windows users now have more options for customizing their notification sounds, and they can also integrate their LinkedIn profile into their Teams for Personal account.
