Microsoft Simplifies Photo Upload from Phone to Copilot on PC

Seamless Photo Uploading to Microsoft 365 Copilot from Mobile Devices

In an exciting announcement, Microsoft has unveiled a new capability for its Microsoft 365 Copilot, enabling users to directly upload images from their mobile devices—be it Android or iOS—straight to their desktop applications. This feature, highlighted in a recent post on the Microsoft 365 Insider Blog, simplifies the process of incorporating photos into your documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Previous Method of Uploading Images

Prior to this enhancement, users faced the inconvenience of needing to transfer images to their computers through email services or alternatives like LocalSend. Only after successfully transferring the images could they be uploaded to Copilot. However, the latest update streamlines this process significantly.

How to Upload Photos with the New Feature

Utilizing this new functionality is easy and straightforward. Follow these steps to upload images directly from your mobile device:

  1. Begin by opening a new or existing document, spreadsheet, presentation, or notebook on your computer.
  2. Navigate to the Home tab in the ribbon and click on Copilot.
  3. In the chat box, click the + button located at the bottom left corner, then choose Add an image.A screenshot of the popup showing the Add an image feature

Availability and Requirements

This new feature is compatible with Microsoft 365 Copilot within popular applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, both for Windows and web users. For those participating in the Insiders program on Windows, it’s essential to have Version 2504 (Build 18603.20000) of the aforementioned apps to access this feature.

Moreover, Insiders on both the web and Windows platforms are required to possess an Enterprise Copilot license to utilize this functionality.

More Innovations from Microsoft 365

In addition to the photo upload feature, Microsoft continues to enhance Copilot’s capabilities in other areas. Just weeks ago, the company introduced Copilot for OneDrive on the web, providing Microsoft 365 subscribers with tools to summarize documents, compare up to five documents simultaneously, and answer queries related to selected documents.

Stay tuned for further updates as Microsoft continues to innovate and integrate new features into its suite of productivity tools.
