Microsoft SharePoint Introduces Modern Page Templates for Faster Page Creation

Exciting Update: Modern Page Templates in SharePoint

Microsoft’s SharePoint, the leading enterprise content management platform, has received a substantial upgrade with the introduction of Modern Page Templates. This feature is set to be rolled out globally between early July and early August, enhancing the way organizations can establish internal pages and manage document sharing.

Multiple Entry Points for Enhanced Usability

The new templates are designed to improve accessibility and usability for organization members. Users can easily create pages from various entry points within SharePoint, including:

  • Site Home: The main hub for Communication or Teams sites.
  • App Bar: The persistent navigation pane on the left side of SharePoint.
  • New Web Part: A web part that allows users to create and display news posts directly on their pages.

This approach increases the likelihood that team members will discover and utilize the enriching templates available to them.

Simplifying Page Creation

With a diverse array of stylish templates, Microsoft aims to reduce the time spent on page design, enabling users to focus on crafting valuable content. To utilize the new templates, simply navigate to New > Page and choose a template labeled “From Microsoft.” For news posts, select New > News post to access the Template Gallery, where custom templates saved by colleagues can be found under “Saved on this site.”

Future Development and Discoverability

While the rollout of these new templates benefits customers globally, Microsoft is actively pursuing further enhancements to improve the feature’s discoverability and utility. Upcoming developments include tenant-wide custom templates that can be published for organization-wide application, along with Copilot templates that facilitate page creation when using Microsoft’s AI assistant. However, specific release dates for these features have yet to be announced.

Seamless Transition for Users

The rollout of Modern Page Templates will be automatic, ensuring that customers can begin utilizing this feature without any additional action required on their part. For more comprehensive insights and guidance, Microsoft plans to release additional documentation shortly to assist users in maximizing the benefits of these templates.
