Update on Windows 11 Version 24H2 Availability
As Windows 11 approaches its 25H2 update, Microsoft has taken a significant step by allowing select users to download and install the Windows 11 version 24H2. This change comes after the removal of a safeguard hold that previously blocked the upgrade, facilitated by the recent September 2025 Patch Tuesday update (KB5065426, KB5065431), which addressed crucial bugs.
No Dynamic Updates for Windows 11 This Time
Typically, alongside the monthly Patch Tuesday updates, Microsoft releases dynamic updates that enhance system functionalities. However, in this instance, they have opted to forgo such updates for Windows 11, limiting them instead to Windows 10. This suggests that the updates for Windows 10 may be among its final iterations, coinciding with the September 2025 Patch Tuesday efforts, which include KB5065429, KB5065428, KB5065427, and KB5065430.
Understanding Dynamic Updates
For those unfamiliar with the concept, dynamic updates introduce essential enhancements to the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), commonly referred to as Safe OS updates. They also include updates for Setup binaries, which are critical during the installation process.
These dynamic update packages are designed to be applied to existing Windows images before their deployment, ensuring that any issues with Setup.exe
binaries and WinRE are effectively addressed. They also facilitate the preservation of Language Packs (LP) and Features on Demand (FODs), which include key elements like VBScript, currently designated as an FOD in Windows 11 version 24H2.
Notably, this round of updates did not include any Setup updates, focusing instead solely on Recovery improvements.
