Microsoft Unveils PowerToys 0.90.1: Key Fixes and Updates

Just over a week ago, Microsoft introduced PowerToys version 0.90, which included the eagerly awaited Command Palette (previously known as PowerToys Run), as well as various enhancements including an upgraded Color Picker and support for variables in the New+ feature. However, it wasn’t long before users began identifying a few bugs in this latest release.

In response to user feedback, Microsoft has rolled out a minor update, PowerToys 0.90.1, aimed at fixing several issues while also providing an updated. NET package. The latest change log on GitHub highlights the four key bugs that have been addressed:

#38422 – Resolved an installation failure via WinGet.

#38440 – Fixed the issue preventing Command Palette from launching when WinGet was not installed.

#38460 – Addressed application crashes when opening Command Palette as an administrator.

#38531 – Eliminated redundant dependency installations for Command Palette.

#38676 – Updated to. NET package version 9.0.4, courtesy of @snickler.

Users can easily download the PowerToys 0.90.1 update from the official GitHub page. Additionally, it is available for installation through the Microsoft Store. Existing PowerToys users can upgrade to the new version by launching the app, navigating to Settings, selecting General, and clicking on the Check for updates option. Please note that PowerToys is compatible exclusively with Windows 10 and 11 systems.

To top it off, dynamic customization in the New+ feature is made possible with the new support for variables in template filenames, allowing users to include elements such as dates or environment variables.
