Microsoft Expands Email Recall Feature to Mobile Users
In a notable update, Microsoft is set to extend the highly anticipated Recall email feature to its Outlook mobile applications on both Android and iOS platforms. This functionality, which has been available to Outlook users on Windows and the web for quite some time, will soon enhance the email management experience for mobile users. The announcement was made through the Microsoft 365 Insider Blog.
Understanding the Recall Feature
For those unfamiliar, the Recall feature enables users to retract an email post-sending, which proves invaluable if you’ve mistakenly addressed an email to the wrong recipient, overlooked an attachment, or pressed ‘send’ with a glaring typo in the content.
Steps to Recall an Email on Mobile
According to Microsoft, here’s a straightforward guide on how to utilize this feature:
- Once you identify an email that contains an error, browse to the Sent folder on your Android or iOS device and select the pertinent message.
- Tap the … icon located in the top-right corner of the email you wish to recall.

- Once the message is recalled, you will receive a notification email detailing whether the attempt was successful.NOTE: The recall may not succeed for older emails.
Eligibility and Launch Details
To use the Recall feature successfully, it’s essential that both you and the email recipient utilize a Microsoft 365 account within the same organizational environment. This requirement mirrors the conditions found on the desktop and web versions of Outlook.
The beta version of this feature is scheduled to be launched later this month, and users are advised to ensure they are operating on version 4.2504.0 or later to access it.
Recent Outlook Enhancements
Microsoft has rolled out a series of updates to Outlook in recent months. In addition to introducing the Recall feature to mobile devices, a recent update allows users to view and save attachments offline, enhancing productivity without reliance on an internet connection.
Moreover, in a significant move that reflects Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to user experience, the company plans to automatically install the New Outlook for Windows app on devices running Windows 10 in an upcoming security update.
