
Today, Microsoft introduced a new release preview build, numbered 19045.6029, for Insiders within the Windows 10 channel. This latest iteration brings a series of enhancements, with a significant focus on default app settings within the European Economic Area (EEA).The company stated:
“We are rolling out some small changes in the EEA region for default browsers via the Set default button in Settings > Apps > Default apps:”
Key Enhancements for Default App Settings
This update includes several noteworthy adjustments regarding the default browser selection process:
- Users will notice that additional file types and links can now be assigned to the new default browser, provided that the browser registers these formats.
- By default, the newly selected browser will be pinned to both the Taskbar and Start Menu unless the user opts out by unchecking the relevant options.
- A convenient one-click option has been added for changing the default.pdf viewer, applicable only if the browser is registered as a.pdf handler.
Updates to the Curl Command Line Tool
Alongside the changes related to default applications, Microsoft has upgraded the curl command line tool, now at version 8.14.1
. This tool is essential for various network-related operations and enhancements within Windows.
