Xbox Cloud Gaming Launches in India: Here’s What You Need to Know
Microsoft has discreetly initiated the rollout of its Xbox Cloud Gaming platform in India. Although the tech giant has not made any formal announcements regarding this expansion, a brief confirmation appeared on the Xbox India Facebook page. Recent reports suggest that a launch event took place, featuring collaborations with local content creators.
Gamers in India who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate plans can now access Xbox Cloud Gaming effortlessly. Many users have reported enhanced latency and connection quality with the newly upgraded service.
“We’re excited to announce Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available in India, enabling players to stream and play hundreds of titles on the devices they already own, whether it’s on an Xbox console, PC, handheld, mobile phone, select LG and Samsung Smart TVs, or compatible Amazon Fire TV Sticks or Fire TV Cube, ”a Microsoft statement shared via Mashable says.“This launch marks India as Xbox’s 29th cloud gaming market—a major step in our mission to bring the joy and community of gaming to everyone on the planet.”
Subscription Plans and Pricing
In addition to rolling out cloud gaming, Microsoft recently increased prices across all Xbox Game Pass tiers and reorganized its game offerings. In India, the pricing structure for Xbox Game Pass is as follows:
- Xbox Game Pass Essential: ₹499 ($5.63) per month, offering access to over 50 games.
- Xbox Game Pass Premium: ₹699 ($7.89) per month, featuring over 200 games.
- Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: ₹1389 ($15.68) per month, providing access to more than 400 games and day-one releases.
Additionally, Microsoft is gradually implementing the ‘Stream what you own’ feature, allowing subscribers to play titles from their personal library via the cloud, even if those titles aren’t part of the Game Pass inventory.
Server Access and Game Testing
Players can connect to two server clusters based on their geographic location: Central India and South India. Notably, Fortnite is available for free on Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing potential users a risk-free opportunity to test the service without any subscription obligations.
This advancement represents a significant milestone for Xbox in expanding its presence in the Indian gaming market, promoting an inclusive gaming experience for gamers across the region.
