Microsoft Introduces a Native Copilot App for Windows Insiders

In a surprising development, Microsoft has announced an upgrade for Windows Insiders, launching a new native version of the Copilot app specifically for Windows 10 and 11. Quick View Accessibility: One of the standout features of this version is the Quick View option, which can be activated using a newly assigned keyboard shortcut—Alt + Space. This allows users to access Copilot swiftly, facilitating a more efficient workflow.
Customizable Interface: The Quick View window allows users to resize and reposition it according to their needs. To navigate back to the main Copilot interface, simply click the icon located at the top left of the Quick View window. For devices equipped with a dedicated Copilot key, this will lead directly to the main window.

It’s native: With this update, the previous Copilot progressive web app (PWA) is replaced with a native version. After installing the Copilot app update, when you run Copilot, you will see it appear in your system tray.

New quick view: You can access the new quick view for Copilot by using the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut on Windows 10 and 11 PCs. You will be able to move the quick view window and resize it to suit your workflow and you can use Alt + Space to open and close Copilot’s quick view whenever you need. To flip back to the main Copilot app window, just press the icon at the top left corner of the quick view window. PCs with the dedicated Copilot key will open the Copilot app up the main window. Copilot will continue to explore options related to the keyboard shortcuts for the app.

Potential Shortcut Conflicts

It’s important to note that the Alt + Space shortcut is commonly assigned in various applications, which may lead to conflicts with programs like PowerToys Run among others. Microsoft has indicated that the Windows operating system will prioritize the app that is running in the foreground when sifting through shortcut commands.
