Microsoft launches Edge 129 update for Android and iOS
Last week, Microsoft launched Edge 129 across its supported desktop platforms, which include Windows, macOS, and Linux. Now, the much-anticipated version 129.0.2792.58 is also available for mobile users on Android and iOS. This update addresses numerous bugs, enhances performance, and introduces several significant under-the-hood improvements. Below are the key details.
The bug fixes in Edge 129 for mobile devices are as follows:
- [iOS] Resolved an issue that caused managed bookmarks to be dismissed under AAD accounts, specifically when the “XXX’s Favorites”folder was absent in favorites.
- [iOS] Fixed a problem with downloaded files not being properly relocated in the work profile.
- [iOS] Addressed a bug that prevented MAM Tunnel from disconnecting automatically when switching to a personal account.
- [iOS] Rectified a disableFeatures policy issue—InPrivate mode disablement bug, which includes support for automatic policy changes. Specifically, when set to
com.microsoft.intune.mam.managedbrowser.disabledFeatures='inprivate'
, users could still access InPrivate mode despite the policy. The expectation is for the policy to facilitate dynamic switching without requiring a restart of Edge. When InPrivate mode is disabled by the policy, the application should automatically exit InPrivate mode and close all open InPrivate tabs.
In addition, there are several “enhancements”:
- [iOS] Enhanced the user experience during account switching on iPad.
- [iOS] Improved Web SSO for CMC (copilot.microsoft.com) login when using MSA.
- [Android and iOS] Reduced the frequency of re-sign-in prompts by disabling user interaction during proactive authentication.
- [Android and iOS] Enhanced account verification by considering sync and news feed status.
- [Android and iOS] General improvements to NTLMSSO policies to enhance usability.
Lastly, here are the overall updates in Edge 129:
- [iOS] Upgraded Intune MAM SDK to version 19.6.0.
- [Android] Upgraded Intune MAM SDK to version 10.4.0.
- [Android and iOS] Updated MS OneAuth SDK to version 3.3.0.
- [Android and iOS] Removed native AAD Copilot support.
You can download Microsoft Edge for iOS from the App Store (requires iOS or iPadOS 14 or newer). The Edge browser for Android is accessible through the Google Play Store via this link (requires Android 8.0 or newer).
