Microsoft Expands Copilot to Mac Users
This week, Microsoft continues to enhance its Copilot offerings. Following the introduction of Copilot Voice and Think Deeper, which will now be accessible for all users without restrictions, the tech giant has unveiled a dedicated Copilot app for Mac users. Previously, the app was exclusively available on Windows, iOS, and Android platforms. Now, Apple users can enjoy the convenience of a dedicated application instead of relying solely on browser access. This is not to be confused with an earlier iPad version that was swiftly discontinued in 2024.
Now live in the App Store (and my dock): Copilot for MacOS 🍎 Don’t know how I ever lived without option+space for the million things a day I ask Copilot. Apple lovers, your Mac can now join the party with iPhone and iPad. Check it out and let me know what you think! pic.twitter.com/Di4GE6IoyR

Features and Benefits of the Copilot App
The Mac version of Copilot brings all the familiar web features but enhances user experience through additional functionalities. A notable aspect is the dedicated shortcut support, allowing users to initiate a session with Copilot by simply pressing Option + Space
. This launches a small input box for text commands or a voice chat, streamlining interaction.
System Requirements and Limitations
However, potential users should be aware of certain limitations. The Copilot application is designed to operate on macOS version 14 or newer, and compatibility is restricted to Macs featuring M1 chips or later—Intel-based Macs are not supported. Furthermore, the app is currently only available in the United States and the United Kingdom, although Microsoft is actively exploring options to extend availability to additional countries:

How to Access the App
If you reside in the US or UK and own a compatible Mac, you can download the Copilot app directly from the App Store. This launch marks a significant stride in making productivity tools more accessible to a wider audience, particularly Apple users eager for advanced functionalities.
