Microsoft is planning on including a new, much-improved USB4 Settings page with Windows 11 22H2.

This night, Microsoft published Canary build 25314 with Dev build 23403, which also includes suggested content to the File Explorer. For those who are unaware, the Canary channel is essentially the same as the Dev channel, and as is typical with these Insider releases, the new Canary build includes secret improvements that Microsoft developers are working on in addition to the ones mentioned.

Albacore, a Windows investigator on Twitter, discovered a special Settings page for USB4 devices inside the latest release. The Settings app image displays a new “USB4 Hubs and Devices” page inside the USB section. The screenshot below displays the linked USB4 devices, which in this case are none because Albacore did not have any USB4 devices.

The USB page in the previous Dev channel release is similar to how it is on Windows 10, in that it displays notifications when USB devices have problems connecting to the PC.

Because the new USB4 page is hidden, it is deactivated by default. It may, however, be activated by entering the velocity ID “39305332.” (not recommended since these are work-in-progress features and are often quite unstable).
