Microsoft introduces Copilot for Samsung TVs and Smart Monitors

Microsoft has officially launched Copilot, its innovative AI assistant, on select Samsung TVs and monitors. This advanced feature leverages the capabilities of large language models, allowing users to get immediate answers on a variety of topics, from films and TV shows to everyday inquiries such as weather forecasts and much more.

What sets Copilot apart from typical generative AI assistants is its engaging visual interface. Users will interact with a charming animated character that not only lip-syncs responses but also displays facial expressions that reflect the conversational tone. Rather than merely delivering spoken answers, Copilot enhances the experience by presenting glanceable cards featuring movies, weather updates, and images, all complete with ratings and essential information.

How to Use Copilot on Samsung Devices

  • If your device has completed the software rollout, you’ll find Copilot on the Apps Tab within the Samsung Tizen OS home screen, specifically under Samsung Daily+.
  • Users can activate Copilot by pressing the microphone button on their Samsung remote control to ask questions and receive interactive responses presented through both visuals and audio.
  • For a more personalized experience, users can connect their existing Microsoft account by scanning a quick QR code, allowing Copilot to utilize previously stored preferences and memory.

Sample Questions for Copilot

Microsoft has shared several example queries that users can pose to Copilot on Samsung TVs and monitors, including:

  • Custom, spoiler-free recaps: “I want to get back into The Crown; I left off at Season 3, Episode 4. What happened up until then?”
  • Ultra-specific recommendations: “I’m looking for something like The Queen’s Gambit, but focused on cooking instead of chess, and under two hours long.”
  • Post-watch explorations: “Who was the voice actor for that character?” or “What other works has the director produced?”
  • Everyday assistance: “Will Saturday in Seattle be suitable for hiking?” or “Can you give me a boost after a breakup?”

The rollout of Copilot is currently underway for Samsung’s 2025 TV models, which include Micro RGB, Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame Pro, and The Frame, alongside the M7, M8, and M9 models of Samsung Smart Monitors in select markets. Expect Copilot to expand to additional TV and monitor models in the coming months as Microsoft and Samsung continue their collaboration.
