Microsoft Enhances Power BI Mobile with Copilot Feature

Microsoft Power BI

In a bid to improve data accessibility on mobile devices, Microsoft has officially launched the Copilot feature in Power BI Mobile applications. This innovative functionality enables users to easily generate insightful report summaries, facilitating quicker data-driven decisions while on the move. With just a single tap, users can receive an executive overview of their latest reports.

How to Access Copilot in Power BI

To utilize Copilot, reports must meet specific criteria established by Power BI. Users will notice a new Copilot button embedded in the report’s header. By tapping this button, individuals can open the Copilot pane and pose questions regarding their reports, such as requesting a summary or extracting specific insights.

Interactive Data Exploration

One of the primary features available is the command to ‘Summarize the entire report.’ This initial prompt allows users to delve deeper into their data. The summary generated by Copilot includes interactive elements—users can tap on data references to engage with related visuals. This capability ensures that they can explore further, either drilling down for more detail or drilling up for a broader view. Additionally, a references icon leads to a comprehensive list of all referenced visuals, complete with names and page numbers for easy navigation.

Suggested Actions for Enhanced Engagement

At the lower section of the screen, Copilot provides users with suggested prompts, streamlining the data exploration process. Users can find options such as ‘Find insights,’ or request adjustments to their summaries, like ‘Make it shorter’ or ‘Make it formal.’ To refresh their options, users simply tap the Refresh button for new suggestions.

Sharing Insights Made Easy

Once users have generated a summary, they can easily share it with colleagues or stakeholders via the Copy button. This function not only copies the summary itself but also includes a link to the original report, enabling recipients to access the detailed data directly.

Looking Ahead: Future Developments in Power BI

With the introduction of Copilot in Power BI Mobile, Microsoft is committed to empowering users with on-the-go data analysis and insights. This feature is a significant stride towards democratizing access to actionable data. Furthermore, Microsoft has announced plans to enhance Copilot’s capabilities in the future, which will enable users to harness even more value from their data using Power BI.
