In a recent announcement, Microsoft revealed that it would implement additional price increases for its Xbox console lineup. This marks the second instance of price adjustments for Xbox hardware in 2023. Previously, in May, consumers experienced hikes of up to $130 on various Xbox consoles and accessories, and now another increment is on the horizon.

Details of the Price Increase

Effective October 3, the revised recommended retail prices for the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles in the United States will take effect. According to Microsoft, the adjustments stem from changes in the “macroeconomic environment, ”indicating a broader impact on pricing strategies.

“Beginning on October 3, we will update the recommended retailer pricing for Series S and Series X consoles in the United States due to changes in the macroeconomic environment, ”explained the company.

New Pricing Structure

The price adjustments for the Xbox consoles are notable, with the Xbox Series X experiencing increases of up to $70, while the Series S will see a rise of up to $20. When combined with the earlier price hikes from May, the cumulative increase presents a significant change for these consoles, which initially launched in 2020.

Company’s Statement on Price Changes

What Remains Unchanged

It is worth noting that prices for accessories, such as the Xbox Wireless Controllers and headsets, will not be affected by this latest pricing strategy. Additionally, the price hikes will not extend to regions outside of the United States, meaning users around the globe can continue enjoying their existing pricing.
