Compounding these challenges, there seems to be a conflict between Nvidia’s GPUs and the latest iterations of Windows 11 Canary builds. Specifically, many users have reported problems related to DirectX 9, where the D3D9 DLL file is crashing. Although Microsoft has not explicitly pointed fingers at Nvidia, user feedback overwhelmingly suggests that the issue resides within this interaction.

“We appreciate your patience as we understand the issue and are diligently working on a fix. If necessary, you may want to rollback the build.”

UPDATE: Regrettably, we’re still addressing the problem, and you will continue to encounter issues with build 27808.

Current Status and Looking Forward

As it stands, Microsoft has officially classified the D3D9 DLL crash issue as a known problem in the Canary channel, which specifically affects certain Insider Program participants:

“We are investigating a D3D9 DLL crash that is preventing multiple applications from launching, starting with Build 27802 for some Insiders.”

Fortunately, this problem currently impacts only those involved in the Insider Program, sparing the wider user base. Further updates will be shared as more information comes to light regarding this ongoing issue.
