In a surprising turn of events, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will soon be available for PlayStation 5, marking a significant platform crossover. Arriving as the sequel to the acclaimed 2020 version, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 enhances the flight simulation experience with a detailed “digital twin”of the Earth and a career mode featuring a wide array of real-world mission types. This game promises to captivate both newcomers and veterans of the genre.
Comprehensive Experience on PS5
The upcoming PS5 edition will include all the rich content that has been available on PC and Xbox, incorporating extensive updates that have been released since the game’s launch. Players can look forward to enhanced regions, cities, and airports, all developed using Asobo Studio’s proprietary engine.
Immersive Features and Gameplay Enhancements
This new installment boasts impressive visuals, complete with realistic terrain and dynamic weather systems, ensuring a truly immersive flying experience. Notably, players will also be able to exit their aircraft after landing, allowing them to explore the game world on foot.
Utilizing the DualSense Controller
The PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller is set to enhance gameplay significantly. Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, explained that “adaptive triggers respond to different speeds and surface types on the ground, providing sloped resistance in the air.”Additionally, air traffic control communications will be relayed through the controller speaker, simulating a genuine cockpit experience. Enhanced features such as gyro controls, lightbar support, and a customizable touchpad further enrich player immersion.
Future Enhancements with PS VR2 Compatibility
In an exciting addition, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will support PlayStation VR2, although this feature will not be available at launch. A dedicated update is slated for 2026, expanding the game’s immersive possibilities.
Release Details and Pre-Order Bonuses
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is set to launch on December 8, 2025, for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. Fans who take advantage of the pre-order option will receive the Northrop T38-A Talon as a bonus aircraft. Furthermore, players opting for the Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, or Aviator Editions will gain early access to the game starting on December 3.
