Exciting News for Microsoft Flight Simulator Fans

For enthusiasts of Microsoft Flight Simulator, today marks a significant milestone. After a prolonged seven-month hiatus since the previous world update in August 2024, the development team has returned with a fresh update. This Update 19 puts the spotlight on some of South America’s most captivating regions while also introducing crucial Marketplace support for the latest entry, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The Launch and Initial Challenges of Flight Simulator 2024

Initially launched in November 2024, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 faced criticism due to various online and server-related issues. Many players expressed their frustration over the absent Marketplace support, which hindered access to both free and premium content. Fortunately, Asobo Studios has recognized this oversight and is actively working to rectify it.

Marketplace Updates and Compatibility

With this recent update, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 now gains access to thousands of add-ons transitioning from its predecessor. To improve user navigation, each add-on is categorized with one of three distinct tags:

  • Not Creator-Approved: Indicates that the creator has either confirmed the add-on’s incompatibility or has not provided compatibility details.
  • Not Available: Suggests that you own the content, but it is currently incompatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
  • No Tag: Designates items that are compatible with the newest version of the game.

Future Developments and Current Limitations

DLC creators will have the option to upgrade their content to MSFS 2024 at no cost or may choose to implement charges for such updates. However, it is important to note that rental and gifting features will not be available until the release of Sim Update 2 next month. Additionally, currently, there is no third-party developer content in the Marketplace, along with a list of known issues which can be viewed here.

New World Update Features: A Focus on South America

The latest world update highlights various nations in South America, including Brazil, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. Players can look forward to 75 newly added points of interest, as well as an exciting range of activities: three discovery flights, three landing challenges, three bush trips, a helicopter landing challenge, a rally race in an F/A-18, and a low-altitude challenge in an L-39. These additions are now available in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, with some activities set to launch on March 17.
