Microsoft Expands Xbox Cloud Gaming to LG Smart TVs

Microsoft continues to broaden its vision of transforming all devices into potential Xbox gaming platforms, with its latest initiative targeting LG Smart TVs. Later this year, users will have the opportunity to access the Xbox Cloud Gaming service directly on compatible LG televisions, signaling a significant expansion in Microsoft’s cloud gaming strategy.

Seamless Gaming Experience

Players who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will benefit from the integration of the Xbox app on LG Smart TVs. This functionality enables gamers to dive into an extensive library, featuring everything from the latest titles in the Call of Duty franchise to a variety of indie games, all accessible through the cloud.

Chris Jo, the Senior Vice President of Platform Business at LG Media Entertainment Solution Company, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We are thrilled to announce the partnership with Xbox, which aims to enrich the gaming experience on LG Smart TVs with a broader selection of popular games. The Gaming Portal will provide users with a seamless, convenient, and exciting way to enhance their gaming adventures.”

Streamlining Game Access for Users

In addition to expanding game availability, Microsoft has recently implemented a feature allowing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members to stream games they already own. This enhancement will also be operational on LG Smart TVs, making the transition from console to cloud gaming even smoother.

Looking Ahead

Microsoft and LG are poised to reveal more details about their cloud gaming partnership later this year. It’s worth noting that LG isn’t the only smart TV manufacturer collaborating with Microsoft; since 2022, Samsung has also been offering Xbox app with cloud gaming support, further amplifying accessibility for gamers across different platforms.
