Microsoft Excel on the web gets some new cut and paste feature improvements
Microsoft has made enhancements to the Excel web app, specifically focusing on improving the usability of its cut and paste features for users. These updates are now available on the Excel website.
The new drag and drop improvements for Excel on the web were showcased in a recent post on the Microsoft 365 Inside blog. According to the company, users can now easily select a row or column in a spreadsheet and drag it to another location by clicking on it and using the hand cursor. The selected row or column can be then dropped into its new position.
The auto-fill function for the Excel web editions has undergone some changes as well. Now, you have the ability to enter data into a cell in your spreadsheet and then choose that same cell. Afterwards, you can simply drag the cell using the plus icon located in the bottom right corner of the selected cell.
Ultimately, selecting the Paste options in the Excel web menu ribbon will result in the addition of new, specific paste selections within the Paste Special options. These selections include:
- Values Only
- Formulas Only
- Formatting Only
- Link To Source
- Keep Source Column Widths
- Transpose Rows and Columns
These new options can also be utilized by right-clicking the location on the spreadsheet where you wish to paste the data.
Microsoft has recently implemented a new feature in the web edition of Excel, enabling it to export spreadsheets in the widely used CSV file format. Additionally, the company revealed plans to introduce new features to Excel and other Microsoft productivity applications through Copilot for Microsoft 365. In April, users will also be able to receive customized responses to their inquiries by typing prompts that are based on their personal work content.
