Deprecation of PowerShell 2.0

PowerShell 2.0 has been officially deprecated since Windows 10 version 1709, with Microsoft reminding users of this change last month. In the current Windows 11 Canary builds, PowerShell 2.0 is no longer available, marking a definitive step in streamlining the platform’s functionality. Microsoft Store Update

In addition to PowerShell adjustments, a new update for the Microsoft Store, version 22406, is being rolled out for Windows Insiders in both the Canary and Dev Channels. This version allows users to install products directly from the Store’s homepage, enhancing user experience.

General Improvements

Resolved the issue with the “Reset this PC” option under Settings > System > Recovery that had been malfunctioning after recent upgrades.
Fixed the display issue on the taskbar that led to missing acrylic effects, which also caused inconsistent UI colors in other areas.
Addressed a problem where Windows Update downloads stalled at 2% for some users.
Corrected rendering issues for specific languages, including Vietnamese and Arabic, ensuring accurate character representation across the system.

File Explorer Enhancements

Fixed the “…” menu display in File Explorer to ensure that all folder options are fully accessible.

Settings Stability

Resolved a crashing issue within Settings when accessing microphone properties under Settings > System > Sound.
Fixed a crash that could occur in Settings or Quick Settings due to a Bluetooth-related issue.

Windowing and Animation Fixes

Corrected the window minimizing animation that was previously malfunctioning.

Task Manager Updates

Fixed outdated CPU utility calculations in the Performance section of Task Manager.
Resolved an issue where the System Idle Process inaccurately reported as 0 after adding the new CPU Utility column.

Audio Functionality Fixes

Restored system sounds that had malfunctioned, including notification alerts and sounds from the volume slider in Quick Settings.

Known Issues to Monitor

General Warning for Copilot+ PCs

If transitioning to the Canary Channel on a new Copilot+ PC, be aware that Windows Hello PIN and biometric sign-in will be unavailable, displaying error 0xd0000225. Users can re-establish their PIN through the “Set up my PIN” option.

Settings Interaction Issues

A new issue is under investigation whereby Settings might crash upon accessing options in Settings > System > Power & Battery.

Remote Desktop Distortions

Extreme graphical issues may occur during Remote Desktop sessions on Arm64 PCs with this build.
