Microsoft has unveiled a significant enhancement for Word users on iOS, particularly for those who rely on voice notes. The latest update introduces an innovative capability within Copilot that effectively organizes and formats voice recordings into a variety of document types, including emails and reports.

The Challenge of Mobile Formatting

Navigating document formatting on a mobile device can often be cumbersome, especially when swift typing is necessary to capture crucial information. For users who find typing challenging or inconvenient, utilizing voice notes presents a practical alternative. The new Copilot feature allows you to focus on your ideas, leaving the formatting responsibilities to advanced AI technology.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using Copilot

Using this feature is straightforward. Follow these steps:

Tap the plus sign to initiate a new document.
Select “Use Copilot.”
Choose your preferred language.
Select a template.
Press the microphone button to begin recording.
Once finished, tap “Done”to allow Copilot to analyze and format your notes based on the chosen template.

Available Templates

By default, Word offers three templates specifically designed for voice notes:

Document: A comprehensive Word document with structured sections and headings.
Notes: A straightforward text document featuring organized paragraphs.
Email: A suitable format for an email, including a body and a closing signature.

Customizing Your Experience

If these default templates don’t meet your needs, you have the option to create a custom template. Simply select “Create New Mode, ”name your template (for instance, “Groceries”), and instruct Copilot on your desired formatting style.

Availability and Language Support

This new feature is available for iOS users who possess a valid Copilot license, such as Copilot Pro or sufficient AI credits in their Microsoft 365 subscription, specifically for app version 2.96 (build 25041112).It’s important to note that initial language support includes English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, German, Italian, and Japanese, with plans for additional languages to be added in the near future.
