Microsoft Addresses Persistent Windows Firewall Issue in Windows 11 Version 24H2
Recently, Microsoft released a public advisory announcing a fix for an ongoing Windows Firewall problem affecting Windows 11, version 24H2, which began following the non-security preview update in June. However, some users have contested this claim, stating they continue to experience the same issues. In response, Microsoft acknowledged that it mistakenly updated its Windows Release Health dashboard.
According to the official advisory regarding the Windows Firewall glitch, as of July 8, the company incorrectly marked the status as Resolved. Despite this declaration, the issue remains unresolved, leading to a reversion back to Confirmed status. Microsoft has reassured users that a fix is in progress, although no specific release date has been provided.
Understanding the Problem
For those unfamiliar with the situation, many Windows 11 users reported that after installing the June non-security preview update (KB5060829), they encountered unexpected alerts from Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. While Microsoft has verified these reports, it has labeled them as false positives—a result of an issue related to a feature currently under development.
