Microsoft Confirms New Blue Screen of Death Bug in Windows 11 24H2

The latest upgrade to Windows 11, known as version 24H2, introduces a significant overhaul of the operating system and brings along its own set of known issues, including some critical ones that result in blue screens of death (BSOD). In response, Microsoft has temporarily halted the rollout of the 24H2 update for impacted devices. Recently, another bug has come to light that leads to system crashes specifically on computers running the Voicemeeter application.

As stated in official Microsoft notifications, the Windows 11 version 24H2 can encounter a blue screen error attributed to MEMORY_MANAGEMENT when paired with the Voicemeeter app. This issue stems from conflicts between the app’s driver and Windows’ memory management system.

To address this major compatibility concern, Microsoft has imposed restrictions on the upgrade for devices that have the Voicemeeter application installed. Consequently, users will not see the option to upgrade to version 24H2 via Windows Update. Microsoft strongly advises against manually installing the update using the Installation Assistant or the Media Creation Tool. However, uninstalling the Voicemeeter application may allow the update block to be removed after a period—potentially within 24 hours.

At this stage, users can either uninstall Voicemeeter and all its related components or wait for VB-Audio Software to launch a revised version that addresses these compatibility issues. Microsoft has committed to providing updates as soon as they become available. It is important to note that this compatibility issue impacts only those systems running Windows 11 version 24H2; older Windows 11 versions and Windows 10 users do not face this specific problem.
