Microsoft Edge 134 Declares Significant Performance Upgrades
In a recent announcement, Microsoft revealed that its latest browser version, Edge 134, boasts notable performance enhancements, claiming it is 9% faster than its predecessor, Edge 133. This measurement is based on the Speedometer 3.0 benchmark, a tool used to assess the responsiveness of web applications. These speed upgrades come on the heels of earlier improvements showcased by Microsoft, particularly following its transition from React to WebUI 2.0, which has markedly enhanced the browser’s responsiveness.
With every release of Microsoft Edge, we care about delivering better performance so that you can spend less time waiting and more time browsing. This is why we have features like sleeping tabs and startup boost, which are a big help for performance.
Performance Benchmarks: Edge 133 vs. Edge 134
According to the Speedometer 3.0 benchmarks, Microsoft detected a 6% performance increase between the two versions, amplifying the speed from 3% to 9%.This testing was conducted on a Windows 11 machine powered by a 13th-generation Intel Core i5 processor.

User Experience May Vary
It is important to note that individual users may not experience the same level of performance enhancements as reported. Factors such as the specifications of your hardware, the number of applications running simultaneously, and various environmental conditions can greatly influence performance metrics.
Optimization Focused on Speed
Microsoft has expressed that the primary reason for the performance leap from Edge 133 to Edge 134 is its commitment to “optimizing speed.”This enhancement entails specific changes made to both Edge and the Chromium engine, which underpins the browser’s functionality.
Additional Improvements in Edge 134
Beyond speed enhancements, Edge 134—released in the stable channel just over a month ago—includes various updates such as:
- Removal of the “Add account” option for Entra ID users.
- Deprecation of Microsoft Search in Bing.
- Improved integration for seamless link opening in Teams on macOS with Edge.
The update also introduced a preview policy aimed at protecting users against scareware attacks and enhanced the Edge settings to provide a more responsive user interface. Users interested in experiencing Edge 134 can download it from the official Microsoft software page.
