Microsoft has quietly updated the release notes for the latest Windows 11 24H2 preview builds. The changelog for Build 26100.1876 now includes two notable features: the option to enable or disable mouse acceleration and the ability to adjust the scrolling direction. Additionally, the “Power & Battery”section has been enhanced to allow users to set a preferred power mode when their computer is plugged in or running on battery.
Here’s how Microsoft outlines these updates that are currently being rolled out to Windows Insiders:
New! This update introduces a feature that allows users to disable enhanced mouse pointer precision in Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Mouse. A new setting is also available to change the scroll direction of the mouse.
New! Users can now set the Power Mode for their PC depending on whether it is plugged in or on battery. Navigate to Settings > System > Power & Battery to access this feature.
However, there are some less favorable updates as well. Microsoft has acknowledged an issue affecting users who rely on assistive technologies, specifically screen readers. The NonVisual Desktop Access app currently cannot narrate applications running with elevated privileges:
The anticipated Windows 11 version 24H2 for non-Copilot+ PCs is rumored to be launched in October. Therefore, users should expect a few additional updates to refine the features before the public release. It’s important to remember that this update remains in preview mode, and, as highlighted in this article, there are still known issues to be resolved.
