Microsoft and Meta Collaborate on Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition
In an exciting new development, Microsoft has joined forces with Meta’s Quest virtual reality division to launch the highly anticipated Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition bundle. Announced officially after over a year of speculation, this bundle features Xbox-branded hardware and a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, enabling seamless access to cloud gaming.
According to Lori Wright, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of Gaming Partnerships and Business Development, “Over the past several years, Xbox has expanded the Xbox cloud gaming experience to more places and more players. Today, with the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition, we are bringing this vision to life with a new design that celebrates Xbox’s iconic aesthetic.”
What’s Included in the Bundle?
The starter pack is priced at $399.99 and is now available for purchase. It features:
- A custom-painted Meta Quest 3S headset with 128 GB of internal storage.
- An exclusive color scheme in Xbox Carbon Black and Velocity Green.
- Matching Touch Plus controllers.
- A limited-edition Xbox Wireless Controller.
- An Elite Strap for added comfort during use.
- Three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
- Three months of Meta Horizon+ subscription.
Cloud Gaming Access and Functionality
Currently, Xbox Cloud Gaming is accessible through an app on Meta headsets, allowing users to explore an extensive library of games available through Game Pass Ultimate, in addition to their personal game collections. However, it is important to note that Microsoft has yet to launch any VR-specific gaming experiences for the headset. Apart from its unique Xbox design, the Meta Quest 3S will operate like any standard Meta Quest 3S device, supporting both standalone adventures and PC-connected gaming.
Limited Availability
This special edition headset will not be mass-produced. Microsoft has indicated that only an extremely limited number of these bundles will be manufactured, emphasizing that “once they’re gone, they’re gone.”
