Microsoft Acknowledges Problems with Print to PDF Feature in Windows 11 June 2025 Update

The June 2025 Update for Windows 11 has stirred concerns, particularly among gamers who play titles like Fortnite or any game that utilizes Easy Anti-Cheat technology. One noticeable glitch is related to the Print to PDF feature, which has been reported as malfunctioning, especially in the Windows 11 version 24H2. Although Microsoft claims this issue primarily affects enterprise users, a fix is anticipated in the patch scheduled for release in July.

According to Microsoft, the Print to PDF functionality is compromised in recent security updates for Windows 11 24H2 on specific devices. Users facing this problem may find that the Print to PDF printer option is no longer visible in the Settings app, located under Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners. This absence of the feature can pose significant challenges for enterprise users who rely on it regularly.

In an updated support document identified by Windows Latest, Microsoft has acknowledged that attempting to manually enable the Print to PDF feature—either through PowerShell or Command Prompt—proves unsuccessful. Users encounter the error code 0x800f0922 when trying to activate the Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Feature.

When executing commands intended to enable the “Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Feature, ” Windows attempts to install the Print to PDF printer driver afresh. This driver can typically be found at:

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

How to Resolve the Missing Print to PDF Feature in Windows 11 24H2 Following the June 2025 Update

If you find yourself unable to activate the Print to PDF feature after it has been removed due to the June 2025 Update, consider the following steps to disable and then re-enable the driver:

Open Command Prompt or PowerShell (or simply use the Windows Terminal app) and run the disable command: Disable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features
After executing the disable command, enable the feature with the following command: Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features

Alternatively, you can navigate to the optional features page in Settings and manually enable the service there.

It’s important to note that Microsoft has developed a patch to fix the PDF-related issues in Windows, specifically patch KB5060829; however, it is currently only available as an optional update. Unfortunately, the issues stemming from the June 2025 Patch extend beyond the problematic Print to PDF feature.
