Microsoft 365 Roadmap Weekly: Latest Outlook Features, Copilot Enhancements, and More

Major Updates Unveiled for Microsoft 365 This Week

This week, Microsoft revealed a series of significant enhancements to its Microsoft 365 Roadmap. These updates span across various applications such as Teams, the revamped Outlook, and the versatile Copilot and Copilot Chat functionalities.

Outlook Enhancements to Streamline Email Management

The new Outlook for Windows is about to receive three noteworthy updates. One of the most anticipated features allows users to add email attachments even when offline, a long-awaited convenience. The two additional features are expected to roll out in August:

  • An option to create desktop alerts triggered by specific email rules.
  • A folder deletion warning that prevents users from deleting any folder that is associated with an existing email rule, prompting them to resolve the rule first.

Copilot Features Expanding Across Microsoft Applications

Continuing its integration of artificial intelligence, Microsoft is broadening the capabilities of Copilot in various applications, with several updates projected for mid-2025. Later this month, Copilot will introduce a functionality that can summarize recent changes and comments directly from the backstage view in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint before users even open a document.

Additionally, Copilot Chat is set to gain the ability to restrict its responses to specified content sources, such as certain SharePoint sites or files, enhancing the relevance and focus of its answers.

Upcoming PowerPoint and Edge Enhancements

Next month, PowerPoint users can look forward to gaining two new abilities with Copilot:

Moreover, Microsoft Edge will also see improvements to its integrated Copilot Chat, which will soon be able to access content across multiple open tabs, rather than just the currently active one, with this update anticipated in August.

Improvements for Teams Rooms Pro Users

For organizations utilizing Teams Rooms Pro on Windows, an upcoming update in August will enable simultaneous town hall and webinar views. This enhancement will keep the presenter’s backstage controls, such as the green room and backroom chat, hidden from the main audience view, thus enhancing the meeting experience.

Stay tuned for these exciting updates that promise to enhance productivity and collaboration across the Microsoft ecosystem.
