In August, Microsoft made an exciting announcement regarding the expansion of language support for its Microsoft 365 Copilot generative AI service. Today, they have officially declared that an additional 12 languages are now accessible to users.
As detailed in a blog post released by the company, the newly supported languages include:
- Bulgarian
- Croatian
- Estonian
- Greek
- Indonesian
- Latvian
- Lithuanian
- Romanian
- Serbian (Latin)
- Slovak
- Slovenian
- Vietnamese
With these additions, Microsoft 365 Copilot now supports a total of 42 languages. Earlier in September, support for the Welsh and Catalan languages was also integrated.
This update reveals that the languages Indonesian and Serbian began rolling out for Microsoft 365 users in mid-October, though they are expected to be fully operational for everyone by early November.
It’s important to note that when using Serbian for Teams meeting transcripts, these will appear in Cyrillic characters as opposed to the Latin alphabet. Microsoft is aware of this issue and is working towards a solution, but has not provided a timeline for resolution.
Looking ahead, Microsoft plans to continue adding more languages to the Microsoft 365 Copilot platform, although no further details were shared regarding upcoming languages in today’s announcement.
Microsoft 365 Copilot is the new branding for the service, which was previously called Copilot for Microsoft 365 until mid-September. This rebranding came alongside the introduction of new features, including the option for businesses to create Copilot Agents in Copilot Studio. Today, it was also revealed that this feature would enter public preview sometime in November, coinciding with the annual Ignite event. Furthermore, 10 new autonomous agents were introduced for Dynamics 365 users to assist with a variety of tasks and functions.
