Microsoft Introduces New Agents for Enhanced Microsoft 365 Copilot Experience
In a notable update, Microsoft has unveiled two innovative agents designed for Microsoft 365 Copilot, specifically aimed at commercial users. These advancements empower users to generate applications, workflows, and agents purely through natural language prompts, enhancing productivity and collaboration.
Introducing the App Builder Agent
The first of these new tools is the App Builder. This agent enables users to swiftly create and deploy personalized business applications within minutes. The applications generated can feature various elements such as dashboards, charts, calculators, and lists. Similar to the way users enhance written content with AI, the Copilot experience allows for app previews and refinements through iterative prompting.
Once created, these applications can be easily shared within an organization via links, resembling the familiar process of document sharing. Furthermore, rather than managing intricate database systems, these apps utilize Microsoft Lists for backend data storage, simplifying the development process.
Streamlining Tasks with the Workflows Agent
The second new agent, known as Workflows, facilitates task automation across various platforms. By simply articulating their needs, users can create automated processes for tasks such as sending emails or scheduling meetings. This agent intelligently translates user prompts into actionable flows that integrate seamlessly with Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Planner, and other Microsoft services.
Users retain the flexibility to modify and enhance these workflows through natural language commands. It’s important to note that these workflows are developed on the robust infrastructure that supports Agent Flows in the complete Copilot Studio experience, ensuring reliability and performance.
New Copilot Studio Experience
In addition to these agents, Microsoft has introduced a lightweight Copilot Studio experience within Copilot, allowing users to effortlessly create productivity-oriented agents. For those needing advanced functionality, the full version of Copilot Studio remains available, providing options for scaling workflows and selecting models.
The newly launched App Builder and Workflows agents are now accessible through the Agent Store for enterprise customers participating in the Copilot Frontier program. These no-code solutions have the potential to revolutionize app development and automation practices across the Microsoft 365 landscape.
