“Mexicans are the modern day slaves” – Ryan Garcia accuses U.S. government of “abuse” on immigrants, raises alarm on missing kids at border
Ryan Garcia, the renowned boxer, has directed criticism at the government of the United States of America. In particular, the 25-year-old has accused the U.S. immigration system and government of mistreating immigrants from Mexico.
The United States and Mexico, two North American nations, share a 1,954-mile-long border that is prone to illegal crossings. Some of these areas have treacherous terrains, adding an additional level of peril to the act of crossing the border illegally.
In addition, the Pew Research Center has highlighted studies that show how illegal immigrants are vulnerable to serious crimes like drug trafficking and human trafficking, which are often controlled by powerful crime syndicates in the region.
Both the American and Mexican governments oversee border security agencies that patrol the U.S.-Mexico border. However, there have been numerous accusations of authoritarianism and collaboration with criminals against both countries’ border patrol agencies.
Ryan Garcia, a rising star in combat sports, has recently spoken out about the mistreatment of immigrants. As a Mexican-American boxer, ‘KingRy’ takes great pride in showcasing his cultural heritage while competing in the United States.
During a conversation with X, the pugilist implied that the U.S. government mistreats Mexican and other immigrants. The statement made by ‘KingRy’ is believed to pertain to the influx of undocumented immigrants entering the U.S., a large portion of whom are forced to take low-paying jobs in order to support themselves and their families.
In his statement, Garcia drew attention to the stark contrast in income between the average American and the low wages received by immigrants.
Additionally, ‘KingRy’ seemed to imply that the United States government should take responsibility for the individuals who have gone missing, specifically the children who have been allegedly abducted, at the border between the United States and Mexico. One of Ryan Garcia’s tweets stated the following:
“Mexicans are the modern day slaves. Government has abused Mexicans and immigrants for years. You can’t come in the country, unless you do jobs for less money then everyone else. So many kids missing at the borders then take our children. I’m speaking for my Mexican people. I don’t speak Spanish but I speak for the children. I’m sad and hurt and we need change now. So many Mexican children crying for their mom. It’s hurts me.”
Ryan Garcia Takes a Stand: The Boxer’s Influence in Social and Political Issues
Despite its notoriety as a dangerous undertaking, the act of illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border remains a prevalent issue. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime reports an estimated 3 million unauthorized entries into the U.S. each year.
As evidenced by the tweet mentioned above, Ryan Garcia has emerged as a vocal opponent of criminal behavior and alleged cover-ups, particularly in regards to illegal immigration and other sensitive issues. In addition, Garcia is on the verge of achieving world champion status and is scheduled to compete against WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney for the title on April 20, 2024, solidifying his nickname as ‘KingRy’.
