Metro Franchise Celebrates 15 Years with Future Developments

The Metro franchise, recognized for its gripping post-apocalyptic survival narratives, has recently celebrated its 15th anniversary. In light of this milestone, 4A Games has excitingly communicated plans for upcoming projects, including a giveaway that marks the beginning of the franchise with Metro 2033.

New Projects in Development

In a 2023 announcement, 4A Games confirmed that a new installment is under development. In a recent update, the studio revealed exciting news: they are also working on an unannounced AAA title in addition to the next Metro game. This project is distinct from La Quimera, which has its own designated team.

Challenges Faced by the Studio

Despite the studio’s optimism, they have not provided a specific timeline for the next release. The ongoing conflict caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine has significantly impacted the team. They have shared their situation with the community, stating:

These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title, it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it.”

4A Games continues to collaborate with Dmitry Glukhovsky, the author of the original Metro novels, ensuring that future narratives remain impactful, political, and anti-war. In their statement, they articulated the significant themes that resonate throughout their work:
