MAG (Metaphor: Refantazio’s currency) plays a crucial role in the game’s economy, particularly as you progress into the later stages. Initially, it may not seem essential, but its significance becomes apparent when you begin acquiring Elite Archetypes for your party members.
While Reeve is indispensable for purchasing necessary items, accumulating MAG is equally vital. A well-rounded approach to farming this currency can substantially enhance your gameplay experience.
One challenge players face is the repetitive nature of some MAG-farming techniques. Although many farming methods can coincide with money grinding, a couple of effective strategies specifically designed to maximize your MAG earnings can greatly benefit your efforts. This guide presents both time-tested strategies and ingenious farming tips that will help you quickly gather this essential resource.
Maximize MAG by Defeating Elemental Enemies
It might seem straightforward, but it’s vital not to overlook Elemental Enemies. Many players rush into encounters with these foes without a solid understanding of their elemental weaknesses.
Failing to defeat them in a single turn, especially after stunning them, can result in their escape and a loss of MAG rewards. To avoid this pitfall, ensure you utilize their specific elemental weaknesses to achieve an Unscathed Victory bonus, significantly boosting your MAG rewards.
In the endgame dungeons, particularly when facing Dark Elementals, you can earn an impressive 13,500 MAG per enemy by using the correct elemental skills to efficiently deplete their HP.
Efficiently Farm MAG from Trance Crystal Enemies
This method is well known for money farming in Metaphor, but it can be equally effective for gathering MAG—assuming you have the patience to engage in the process.
Trance Crystals, located throughout various dungeons, produce an infinite wave of enemies until they are destroyed. In addition to MAG farming, I recommend using the Merchant Archetype to collect Reeve during this process.
Here are a few notable dungeons where you can optimize your MAG acquisition, including estimated MAG yields per hour:

This location features two Trance Crystals that spawn Goborns. With consistent farming over an hour, you can accumulate over 160,000 MAG. |

While there are no efficient Trance Crystals here, the area before the final boss has numerous skeleton enemies to defeat, enabling you to farm approximately 140,000 MAG in an hour. |

The best farming spot is towards the dungeon’s end in the Inner Sanctum, featuring three Trance Crystals. Proper farming here can yield around 350,000 MAG in just one hour. |
Optimize MAG Farming with the Debt Collection Skill (End-Game/NG+)
The Debt Collection skill is the cornerstone of effective MAG farming during the endgame. Upon leveling the Merchant Archetype to Rank 20, you unlock this ability, which allows you to extract MAG from enemies based on your Archetype level, yielding around 1,500 MAG.
However, it’s important to note that this skill costs 100 MP per use, necessitating effective MP recovery strategies. To optimize MP restoration, unlock the Speed Cooking skill from Maria’s Bond at Rank 4 to streamline cooking in the Gauntlet Runner.
Be sure to prepare Cursed Love Ballads, which restore 100 MP to all party members. Gather the necessary ingredients from vendors to ensure an ample supply for your farming sessions.
To implement this method, assign four party members to the Merchant Archetype and level them to Rank 20. Then, find a suitable dungeon with low-level enemies to begin your farming.
Start combat with a single enemy, using Debt Collection repeatedly until your MP is depleted. You can recover using Cursed Love Ballads as needed. For maximum efficiency, aim to achieve three Debt Collection activations before defeating the enemy to seize an Unscathed Victory bonus, though this isn’t obligatory.
This approach enables players to harvest anywhere from 200,000 to 500,000 MAG in just 30 minutes, thanks to the rapid spamming of the skill during combat.
