In Atlus’s games, financial resources have always played a critical role, much like in real life. However, in titles such as Metaphor: ReFantazio, the stakes are elevated, with players needing to amass millions of Reeves to purchase the finest gear available for their party.
Acquiring such wealth isn’t a straightforward endeavor; it requires strategic efforts and dedicated farming in specific locations throughout the game. For ambitious players seeking to build their fortune, I’ve outlined some effective farming spots and methods that can help you quickly accumulate Reeves.
Before diving into these strategies, ensure that you have unlocked the Merchant Archetype, as it plays a crucial role in these farming endeavors.
Farming in Tradia Desert (Early-Game)
Tradia Desert serves as one of the initial side dungeons where players can efficiently farm Reeves. Located near the starting area, this desert is familiar territory for players trying to navigate their way to Grand Trad.
If you find yourself completing the Manjula Bounty here, it presents the perfect moment to tackle both challenges simultaneously: eliminate enemies while achieving your bounty objectives.
Utilizing your Merchant Archetype, exploit the area’s respawning Sandworms for a reliable farming method. Optionally, you can choose to confront the Manjula before or after your farming session.
For additional early-game farming, consider the Imp’s Den for both experience points and Reeves, as this area allows for easy resets.
If you are curious about farming the Regalith Grand Cathedral’s Trance Crystal-spawning skeletons, my recommendation is to skip it. Instead, use them to replenish your MP with the Wizard archetype as you navigate the dungeon.
Farming in Forsaken Tower (Mid-Game)
One of the most lucrative farming locations is the Forsaken Tower, accessible through the Superior Scrimshaw sidequest in Brilehaven.
The fourth floor houses two Trance Crystals that spawn a continuous flow of enemies such as Hexers, Archers, and Maneater Goborns. For efficient farming, ensure your level is sufficient to eliminate them in one hit.
Don’t forget to dispatch the Potolpo enemies (the squid jar foes) in this area, as their self-destruct attack can inflict significant damage if you’re not cautious.
This location stands out due to the abundance of spawning enemies and the impressive Archetype experience you can earn, allowing for rapid level progression. With the Merchant Archetype, players can potentially gather over 1.5 million Reeves within an hour if they manage to one-hit KO the Maneater Goborns and maintain focus amidst the enemy rush.
Tip: If the crystals sustain damage, simply exit and re-enter the dungeon to restore them to full health.
Farming in Dragon Temple (Mid-To-Late Game)
The Dragon Temple is a massive main-story dungeon that provides excellent farming opportunities as well. Navigate through the dungeon until you reach the Shinjuku Drakongrace section, where you will find another optimal farming area near the Magla Hollow saferoom.
Be wary of the lurking Treebeast enemy in the corridor. Inside the farming room, you can find a mix of Papyrgas and Labovesps. The Papyrgas drop valuable Magla Pills, which can regenerate your MP and are worthwhile resources to farm, despite the inventory cap of 99.
While there are other farming zones near the elevator with Crystals spawning Papyrgas and Ostoflos, this area is less favorable as enemies can become trapped in the foliage.
The ultimate farming spot is located at the end of the dungeon, just before the Inner Sanctum. Here, you can farm Treebeasts, which also yield valuable items that can be sold for additional Reeves. With three Trance Crystals actively spawning enemies, dedicated grinding can result in approximately 1.7 million Reeves within an hour.
Completing Bounties for Extra Reeves
Bounties can be obtained from recruitment centers across major cities, and additional target information is readily accessible through Info Traders in Taverns.
It’s especially advantageous to unlock Catherina’s Bounty Bonus Follower Ability upon reaching Rank 3 with her Bond. This ability significantly increases the Reeves earned from bounty completions, making it an essential asset in the early-to-mid game.
Exchanging MAG for Reeves
Finally, consider the MAG exchange vendors scattered throughout cities. MAG can be acquired by defeating enemies or through specific dialogue choices linked to Follower Bonds.
The exchange rate for MAG is relatively low early in the game. However, if you possess Brigitta’s Merchant’s Markdown Follower Ability and unlock it at Bond Rank 6, you can maximize your returns under suitable weather conditions, which can be verified via local NPCs.
With optimal circumstances, turning 40,000 MAG into over 400,000 Reeves becomes feasible. Feel free to utilize your MAG reserves carefully and employ the farming techniques listed earlier for a balanced approach.
