MediaTek Tops Taiwan’s Salary Rankings: Non-Executive Full-Time Employees Earn Over NT$4 Million, Outpacing TSMC Compensation

In the first quarter of 2025, TSMC reported a remarkable revenue of $25.53 billion. Concurrently, MediaTek showcased strong financial results, generating approximately $4.7 billion. However, despite its impressive earnings, TSMC’s financial prowess continues to overshadow the competition, particularly as it nears full-scale production capabilities for its anticipated 2nm fabrication process, which is expected to attract key clients like Apple. Interestingly, when examining compensation packages, non-executive full-time employees at MediaTek earn more annually than their counterparts at TSMC, presenting an attractive employment opportunity for those focused on salary.

Realtek Follows MediaTek in Employee Compensation; TSMC Ranks Seventh

Recent data released by ITHome highlighted the salary rankings of non-executive full-time employees at listed firms in Taiwan. MediaTek leads this list with a substantial annual remuneration of NT$4.31 million (approximately $148, 997), making it the only company in this report where employee salaries cross the NT$4 million threshold. This annual figure also reflects a significant year-on-year increase of 14.81% from 2023.

In the second position, Realtek offers its workforce an annual salary of NT$3.915 million (around $135, 361.55).TSMC, on the other hand, occupies the seventh ranking with its non-executive full-time employees earning NT$3.391 million (about $117, 193), illustrating a noteworthy disparity compared to MediaTek’s compensation. Although the report does not delve into the reasons behind this wage difference, it is conceivable that TSMC’s strategy involves balancing lower average salaries with higher pay for more experienced and skilled workers.

Another contributing factor to this salary gap could be TSMC’s larger employee base. For 2024, MediaTek was reported to employ approximately 21, 982 individuals, while TSMC’s workforce was nearly four times that, totaling around 83, 000 personnel. Furthermore, MediaTek was recognized last year as one of the top firms to work for, suggesting a potentially more favorable environment for career advancement among its employees.
