This month, Microsoft revealed the initial lineup of games coming to Game Pass subscribers in early October. Before the next set of Game Pass announcements, Piranha Games has shared that their upcoming narrative-driven mecha title, MechWarrior 5: Clans, will be included in the subscription service right at launch. Set to release on Thursday, October 16, this action-packed game will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. Be sure to watch the newest gameplay trailer provided above.
In a recent news release, Piranha Games confirmed that both Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscribers will have day-one access to the mecha game, coinciding with the game’s retail debut.
The studio’s earlier title, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, has been featured on Game Pass for several years. Unlike that game’s open-ended format with randomly generated missions, Clans emphasizes a narrative-focused experience, offering a linear campaign with meticulously crafted levels. As with its predecessor, players can engage in cooperative gameplay with up to five participants.
Here’s a glimpse of how the studio describes the narrative, which is designed to welcome newcomers to the MechWarrior franchise:
For the first time since MechWarrior 2 (released in 1995), players will dive into an exhilarating Clan Invasion storyline—arguably one of the most monumental eras in the franchise that reshaped the political landscape and faction dynamics across the Inner Sphere. MechWarrior 5: Clans serves as an ideal entry for new players exploring the MechWarrior universe, while also fulfilling the long-held expectations of veteran pilots eager to engage with this beloved series after more than three decades.
Piranha Games has also announced a $79.99 Digital Collector’s Edition, which includes the base game, exclusive mech designs and weapon skins, along with a digital soundtrack, artbook, and additional bonuses. Meanwhile, the standard edition of MechWarrior 5: Clans is priced at $49.99, which will be accessible to subscribers of Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass at no additional charge.
