Maxio Unveils Flagship PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD Controller: Up To 14.8 GB/s, 3.5 Million IOPS, 4800 MT/s Flash Support, 8 TB Capacities
Maxio has revealed three new PCIe Gen5 SSD controllers, which boast speeds of up to 14.8 GB/s and capacities of up to 64 TB.

Despite not being widely recognized in the DRAM industry, Maxio Technology has recently announced the release of three advanced PCIe Gen5 SSD controllers. These controllers, which consist of the MAP1802/MAP1806 for consumer use and the MAP1803 for enterprise use, are all equipped with cutting-edge technology, providing speeds of over 14 GB/s.
The Maxio MAP1802 is our flagship model, adhering to the standard NVMe 2.0 specifications. With a compact die size of 9x13mm and a design without an integrated heat spreader, it offers a 4-channel configuration with 8 CE’s and can accommodate up to 4800 MT/s NAND Flash. The Phison E26 controller, currently the fastest on the market, boasts speeds of approximately 3000 MT/s. The MAP1806, one of Maxio’s consumer portfolio’s PCIe Gen5 SSD controllers, measures 11×14.5mm and boasts 8 channels with 4 CE’s that can handle NAND Flash speeds of up to 3600 MT/s. With a rated speed of 14,500 MB/s Read (14.5 GB/s) and 14,000 MB/s Write (14.0 MB/s), this controller can achieve impressive data transfer rates. Its IOPS for both read and write are rated at 3500K and it can support maximum capacities of up to 16 TB.
The Maxio MAP1806 is a Consumer-Grade PCIe Gen5 SSD Controller:

Finally, Maxio’s offering will include the MAP1803 Enterprise Gen5 SSD controller, which boasts a die size of 23x23mm and is equipped with an aluminum heat-spreader. The controller boasts 16 channels with 8 CE’s and can support NAND Flash speeds of up to 3200 MT/s. Its top speeds are rated at 14,000 MB/s for reading (14.0 GB/s) and 13,500 MB/s for writing (13.5 GB/s), with a maximum Read IOPs of 3500K and Write IOPS of 450K. Additionally, the controller has a maximum capacity of 64 TB.

As of now, there is no information on the release date for upcoming SSDs that will use Maxio’s PCIe Gen5 controllers. Currently, consumer-grade SSDs have mainly featured controllers from Phison and Silicon Motion. However, it is expected that InnoSilicon, Samsung, and other companies will also enter the SSD market with their own offerings. With the increasing prevalence of Gen5 platforms, we can anticipate more options to become available later this year.
