In a recent announcement, Spotify has unveiled the most popular tracks of 2024, with *Mashle: Magic and Muscles*’ iconic opening theme, “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born,”topping the charts in Japan. The latest season aired between January 6 and March 30, 2024, featuring a total of 12 episodes, complementing the previous season’s 12 and bringing the series to 24 episodes overall.
The single, performed by the talented hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts, is noteworthy as they have previously lent their voice to the *Call of the Night* anime, performing the opening track “Daten.””Bling-Bang-Bang-Born”captured immense popularity, securing the number one spot on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 for an impressive 19 weeks, with eight of those weeks being consecutive. The duo is also known for their song “Otonoke,”which serves as the opening for *DANDADAN*.

The Spotify rankings have highlighted that “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born”is the most listened-to song in Japan during 2024. Interestingly, Creepy Nuts does not appear among the most-streamed artists, indicating that this particular track resonated well with audiences rather than resulting from a broader listening trend for the duo. This phenomenon isn’t uncommon; for example, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Expresso”achieved global success without her ranking among the top artists on Spotify.

Overview of *Mashle: Magic and Muscles*
*Mashle: Magic and Muscles* is an anime adaptation of the popular manga by Hajime Komoto, published in Shonen Jump from 2020 to 2023, and is available in the U.S. through VIZ Media. The title playfully echoes how Japanese speakers pronounce the English word “muscle,”linking directly to the plot. Set in a magical world where social status hinges on magical abilities, the story follows Mash Burnedead, who, raised by his adoptive father Regro, focuses on achieving peak physical strength in lieu of magical prowess. When he is unexpectedly enrolled in a magic academy, he must rely on his extraordinary muscles to navigate the challenges posed by a magical society.
The animation is produced by A-1 Pictures, known for their work on hits like *Fairy Tail*, *Kaguya-sama: Love Is War*, and *Sword Art Online*. The series is helmed by director Tomoya Tanaka (known for *Visual Prison*), with head writer Yusoku Kuroda (*My Hero Academia*) overseeing the scripts.
