Marvel’s Unbelievable Disrespect Towards Jenna Ortega

For many actors, being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a lifelong aspiration. These performers often grew up idolizing superheroes and dreaming of stepping into their shoes. However, for Jenna Ortega, those dreams have taken a different turn.

Ortega’s sentiments don’t stem from a disdain for Marvel or superhero films. Instead, her experience with the MCU left a sour taste in her mouth. She has already been involved in a Marvel film—specifically, Iron Man 3—but her part was significantly reduced, leaving her feeling underwhelmed.

In a recent interview promoting her film, Death of a Unicorn, Ortega discussed her brief history with the MCU. She shared that she was cast in Iron Man 3 and initially had a notable role, only to find that her lines were ultimately cut. As a result, viewers can only catch a fleeting glimpse of her in the film. During her conversation with Entertainment Tonight, she reflected on this experience.

“I did it once, ” Ortega remarked.“It was one of the first jobs I ever did.” She further elaborated, expressing her disappointment: “They took all my lines out. I’m in Iron Man 3 for a quick second. I take up the frame. I have one leg, and I’m the vice president’s daughter.”

Could We See Her in the MCU Again?

During the same interview, Paul Rudd, her co-star in Death of a Unicorn, suggested that there might still be a chance for Ortega to return to the MCU. Rudd, known for portraying Scott Lang (Ant-Man), commented, “Marvel is very good at kind of laying those breadcrumbs, so it might very well be that you come back.” He expressed his belief that Marvel could find a way to reintroduce her, adding, “They’re gonna create something for you! ‘Cause they should be so lucky to have Jenna Ortega in their franchise.”

However, Ortega’s reaction was less enthusiastic. She stated, “They even took my name away. I count that [as my MCU appearance], and then I move on.” This suggests that even if opportunities arise for her to re-enter the franchise, Ortega may not be interested in revisiting that aspect of her career.

Such instances of roles being altered or eliminated are common in the competitive entertainment industry, especially for younger actors. It’s entirely rational for Ortega to feel disappointed by this experience, and her reticence towards joining the MCU again is understandable.

This sentiment remains despite Paul Rudd’s earnest wishes for her to join the universe.
