Marvel Rivals Captivates the Next Generation of Fans
In an impressive display of its appeal, NetEase’s Marvel Rivals has successfully ‘converted’ Kevin Feige’s son, the offspring of Marvel Studios’ president and the mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), into a bona fide fan of the franchise. This development highlights the game’s unique ability to engage younger audiences.
Feige recently shared insights in an interview with The Wrap. He noted that prior to playing Marvel Rivals, his son exhibited only a superficial interest in Marvel properties, engaging with the movies, TV shows, and comics merely to support his father’s profession. However, upon discovering the free-to-play hero shooter, his intrigue significantly deepened.
“Suddenly, he was asking me to tell him more about Hela and The Punisher, ” Feige explained, illustrating how the game spurred his son’s interest in exploring more characters through various media.
The Challenge of Engaging New Generations
Feige used this transformation as an example of how Marvel is striving to captivate a newer generation of fans. He also pointed to the successful Disney Junior series, Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which has effectively introduced younger viewers to the superhero narrative.
Game Popularity and New Releases
Marvel Rivals is not only capturing the interest of Kevin Feige’s son. The game has seen remarkable success, amassing over 40 million players globally just two months post-launch in February 2025. Currently, it has entered its third season, featuring the addition of fan-favorites Phoenix and Blade as new playable characters.
