Marvel Rivals Season 3.5: Blade Joins the Roster, New Features to Combat Toxic Players, and More

Exciting Developments in Marvel Rivals Season 3.5 Update

NetEase, the developer behind Marvel Rivals, has unveiled a variety of significant changes set to debut in the upcoming Season 3.5 update. Features include the highly-anticipated addition of Blade to the character roster, new character team-ups, the introduction of a fresh map, an innovative game mode, and enhanced mechanisms aimed at monitoring player behavior.

Update Timeline and Key Releases

The bulk of these features, including the new character Blade and the reinforcement of voice chat monitoring to curb toxicity, will launch on August 8, 2025. However, the new game mode titled Resource Rumble, along with its associated map, Throne of Knull, will be introduced later on August 22, 2025.

Team-Up Modifications

Significant adjustments are also being made to team-ups. Two existing team-ups, Guardian Revival and Atlas Bond, will be removed from gameplay. Additionally, Loki will exit one team-up, making way for a new combination of Hela and Thor under the title Ragnarok Rebirth.

Two exciting new team-ups will debut: Duality Dance, featuring Adam Warlock and Luna Snow, and Vibrant Vitality, which includes Mantis alongside Groot and Loki. On a notable note, Iron Fist will enhance the Chilling Assault team-up, while Star-Lord is set to join the ranks of the Rocket Network team-up. Adding to the excitement, the newly introduced Blade will partner with Moon Knight and Cloak & Dagger in the Lunar Force team-up.

Combatting Toxicity and Player Penalties

In their commitment to fostering a better gaming environment, NetEase will implement stricter penalties for players who abandon competitive matches prematurely. Such players will face both longer bans and more severe point deductions. However, those who remain in the game despite facing a disadvantage due to a teammate’s early exit will be compensated with points once the match concludes.

Additionally, NetEase pledges to expedite the review process for mistaken bans resulting from connection issues or system failures, ensuring players are not unjustly penalized.

Community Engagement and Future Prospects

Since its launch, Marvel Rivals has captivated a sizable player base, particularly on Steam, despite a noticeable decline from its peak popularity earlier in the year. The daily player count remains substantial, numbering in the tens of thousands. As new updates and features are rolled out, it remains to be seen whether the game can regain or even surpass its initial launch figures.

A strong debut for a free-to-play live service game is commendable, yet sustaining and building upon that momentum in future updates is the true hallmark of success — a challenge that Marvel Rivals must navigate in the coming months.
