Major Content Update for Marvel Rivals

NetEase is set to unveil its inaugural significant content update for Marvel Rivals as the game embarks on its first season. Among the highlights of Season 1 is the highly anticipated addition of the Fantastic Four, including fan favorites Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, who will join the roster of this action-packed third-person shooter.

As part of the Season 1 launch, players can also expect a comprehensive balance update. This update aims to fine-tune the gameplay experience through a series of crucial adjustments involving buffs, nerfs, and tweaks to the existing character lineup.

In a recent blog announcement, NetEase acknowledged the diverse strategies players utilized during Season 0, showcasing creative hero combinations and tactical counters. However, this playtesting period also revealed imbalances among characters, prompting the need for a more refined balance.

Character Adjustments for Season 1

Here are the key hero modifications that players can look forward to with the new season:

Vanguard

Captain America

  • Shield restoration delay reduced from 3s to 2s.
  • Cooldown for Liberty Rush decreased from 12s to 10s.
  • Base health increased from 650 to 675.
  • Energy cost for Freedom Charge (ultimate ability) reduced from 3400 to 3100.
  • Health provided by Freedom Charge reduced from 110 to 100 per second.

Doctor Strange

  • Added damage falloff for Maelstrom of Madness, starting at 5m and reducing to 70% at 8m.
  • Recovery rate for Shield of the Seraphim reduced from 80 to 70 per second.

Thor

  • Base health raised from 500 to 525.
  • Immunity to control effects during God of Thunder (ultimate ability) added.

Hulk

  • Gamma shield value for Hero Hulk decreased from 250 to 200.

Venom

  • Symbiotic Resilience bonus health ratio improved from 1 to 1.2 per health point lost.
  • Base damage for Feast of the Abyss (ultimate ability) increased from 40 to 50.

Duelist

Black Panther

  • Health gained from refreshing Vibranium Marks reduced from 40 to 30.
  • Maximum additional health limit reduced from 120 to 75.

Black Widow

  • Range of Edge Dancer’s first effect increased from 3m to 5m.
  • Reduced recovery time for Fleet Foot from 12s to 4s.
  • Maximum power time for Electro-Plasma Explosion (ultimate ability) reduced from 1s to 0.6s.

Hawkeye

  • Spread angle between Blast Arrows slightly reduced.
  • Passive ability Archer’s Focus triggering distance decreased from 60m to 40m.
  • Maximum additional damage of Archer’s Focus reduced from 80 to 70.

Additional Heroes Updates

Scarlet Witch

  • Chaos Control’s fixed damage increased from 50 to 60 per second.
  • Percentage damage per second decreased from 5% to 3%.
  • Chthonian Burst projectile damage increased from 30 to 35.

Storm

  • Wind Blade projectile speed increased from 100m/s to 150m/s.
  • Additional health from Omega Hurricane increased from 350 to 450 and will diminish over time.

Winter Soldier

  • Bionic Hook and Tainted Voltage bonus health increased from 30 to 40.

Strategist

Cloak & Dagger

  • Dagger Storm cooldown reduced from 15s to 12s.
  • Number of dashes in Eternal Bond (ultimate ability) increased from 3 to 4.

Team-Up Abilities Changes

Hawkeye – Black Widow

  • Hawkeye’s season bonus reduced from 20% to 15%.

Thor – Storm – Captain America

  • Cooldown of Charged Gale reduced from 20s to 15s, and damage increased from 50 to 55.

NetEase emphasized that while Season Bonuses and Team-Up abilities will undergo minor changes for Season 1, extensive redesigns are on the roadmap for Season 2. A mid-season update is also planned, which will introduce additional balance refinements based on player feedback.
