Wong, a consistent presence in Doctor Strange’s comics since the 1960s, has surged in popularity following Benedict Wong’s celebrated portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In gaming, his journey began as a non-playable character in 2006’s Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and transitioned into playable roles in mobile titles such as Marvel Contest of Champions, Marvel Snap, and LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2.

The painting of Wong featured in the Sanctum Sanctorum map may simply serve as an homage to one of Doctor Strange’s most loyal allies, given the map’s design is rich with references highlighting the magical realm of Marvel. With Season 1: Eternal Night launching shortly, players will soon face Dracula across three new maps and engage in battles with others in the newly introduced Doom Match mode.
