Marvel Rivals developer NetEase Games has expressed regret to players over the inconvenience caused by the ongoing PlayStation Network (PSN) outage, which has rendered not only Marvel Rivals but all online games on Sony consoles temporarily unplayable.
The interruption of PSN services began on the evening of February 7. Sony has acknowledged the issue and stated they are investigating, but no substantial updates have been provided to the public. As of February 8, the service remains down for over 19 hours and counting.
Amidst Sony’s silence, the Marvel Rivals team at NetEase has issued clarification regarding the situation. Their statement affirmed that they are in active discussions with Sony about the timeline and specifics for resolution.

Community Response to the Outage
Despite the Marvel Rivals team’s efforts to keep communication open, many PlayStation users are growing increasingly frustrated with Sony’s lack of updates on the matter. Since the outage began, fans have taken to social media platforms to express their discontent, some drawing parallels to the extensive PSN outage of 2011, which lasted nearly a month—the longest in the network’s history.

During this ongoing outage, all PS4 and PS5 online game functionalities are compromised. This also impacts a variety of service features, including account management and game streaming. Though users can access the PlayStation Store online, they cannot complete purchases, and even logging into the Store via a web browser has proven impossible for many.
The issues extend to PlayStation PC titles with PSN account integration; for instance, the multiplayer Legends mode in the Steam version of Ghost of Tsushima is not currently accessible. Given Sony’s history with such incidents, it appears they are still working to diagnose the problem, which may explain the absence of detailed updates at this time. The unexpected nature and duration of this outage suggest it may be due to unforeseen complications that emerged suddenly in early February 2025.
