On October 25, 2024, Mariah the Scientist made a guest appearance on the “Caresha Please”podcast, where she candidly discussed her past relationship with Lil Yachty during their college days. Reflecting on their long-standing acquaintance, she shared:
“We dated. I actually met him in high school, but when I got to college, we started dating a bit. At that time, I was just a broke college student.”
Additionally, Mariah disclosed that she had penned two songs for Lil Yachty, which he initially refused to listen to. Recounting the moment she presented the tracks to him on an iPod, she recited:
“He said, ‘I don’t wanna Joan you, so I’m not listening to this sh*t.’”
Although details regarding the specifics of their first meeting remain unclear, Mariah confirmed that it occurred while she was still in high school.
Previously, in an interview with Glitter magazine published on November 15, 2019, Mariah revealed she attended St. John’s University in New York on a biology scholarship, after completing her education at Southwest DeKalb High School.

While Mariah has been open about her college involvement with Lil Yachty, the rapper consistently refutes these claims. In 2023, he took to X to clarify that there was no romantic involvement between them. He expressed:
“Why do y’all keep trying me over this woman? I been quiet for so long, but please stop making up this weird a*s false narrative. And the fact Mariah just let all these lies go is weird on me.”
According to Hot New Hip Hop, rumors had surfaced in the past claiming that the rapper had allegedly gotten one of Mariah’s friends pregnant. Lil Yachty dismissed these rumors as well, stating:
“This is also just not true. Lmao they were never friends…. EVER never met. Rarely ever had a full conversation. They just followed each other… U R WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!!”
Despite never collaborating musically, Lil Yachty is currently riding high on the success of his joint studio album with James Blake, titled “Bad Cameo,”which dropped in June 2024 and includes tracks like “Woo,””Bad Cameo,””Missing Man,””Run Away from the Rabbit,””Twice,””Midnight,””Save the Savior,”and “Red Carpet.”
